New community project from Cylch - C3 Carbon Capture Cymru
Cylch is planning the launch of C3, Carbon Capture Cymru, a new programme to help community organisations in Wales save money on their fuel bills, generate an income through renewable energy generation and tackle climate change.
C3 is looking to support a wide range of community initiatives on climate change and proposes to work with community groups by securing donations and investments from individuals and corporate bodies to provide a not for profit fund of accessible loans and small grants. Eligible projects will be accepted from social enterprises, community councils, land based community projects and voluntary and community groups.
Cylch is also looking for demonstration projects to:
Trial and evaluate the use of innovative technological approaches to emission reduction
Demonstrate in an auditable way emission reductions or carbon sequestration through changes in land management e.g. soil carbon or woodland management
Reduce the risk of damage to our communities, infrastructure and economy through droughts, floods and other extreme weather events.
In order to produce a portfolio for potential donors or investors Cylch is looking to collect a range of case studies and expressions of interest from community groups that are or are looking to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions through realising energy efficiency measures, renewable energy generation and develop land management projects for carbon conservation or sequestration.
If your community group or project is involved in any of these activities and you would be happy to be considered as an exemplar project, please contact the C3 co-ordinator, Ken Moon, for the relevant pro-forma.
