Fair Trade products – including coffee – successfully brewed up interest during Fair Trade fortnight.

Cocoa producers from Kuapa Kokoo co-operative, Ghana, took part in a breakfast briefing at the Wales Millennium Centre. Attendees learned how funds from the fair trade premium have helped third world communities.

Centre Fair Trade Marketing Officer Elizabeth Hudson explained the current market growth in Fair Trade. On average, retail sales grow 40 per cent each year.

A second event was held in north Wales. At the Llandudno meeting, attendees learned about work to support Llandudno in its quest to become a Fair Trade town.

A further event is planned from Friday 6 June to Saturday 7 June. The biggest Fair Trade exhibition in Wales – to date – will be held at the University of Newport, Caerleon Campus. The Friday will be dedicated to businesses – so if you want to find a supplier or see the range of products – please come along. On the Saturday, anyone with an interest in Fair Trade is welcome.
